Meher Baba's Silence Day - 10 July, 2008 On 10th July 1925, Meher Baba started observing silence which he continued to observe for 44 years till the time he dropped his physical body on 31st January, 1969. During the intial period of his silence, he used an alphabet board to communicate which he later gave up in 1954 and started using hand gestures (his own sign language) instead. In remembrance of Meher Baba's historic silence, the 10th of July is celebrated every year by Meher Baba lovers as Silence Day by observing silence for 24 hours. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Watch Meher Baba in a 1932 Video using his alphabet board -------------------------------------------------------------------- |
